Huaier is a medicinal mushroom with a long history of use in China. Dr. Johnston looks at a randomized study of 1,044 patients after surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma.
1,044 liver cancer patients, 39 medical centers, one mushroom extract. This is a scientific study with statistically significant benefits from an over-the-counter remedy, but this is going to be a study you won't hear about from your oncologist. Why? It's difficult for pharmaceutical companies to monetize what you can grow in your backyard.
In this 2018 published study, every patient had undergone potentially curative surgery for their hepatocellular cancer, and every patient was randomized to either standard follow-up or a medical mushroom called Huaier. At 96 weeks, recurrence-free survival was 62.4% with Huaier and only 49.1% without. Statistically, according to this study, for every 100 patients treated, 13 more patients survived if they were taking Huaier.
Here's the research. You decide.
